Despite her young age, experience across a spectrum of creative arts and a desire to see the world have led Sonia Boyajian to specialize in a good-enough -to-eat aesthetic that is entirely her own. Originally from California, Sonia majored in fine art before graduating from Otis College of Art and Design with a degree in fashion design.

A move to Antwerp, and a serendipitous meeting, led to a spell under the tutelage of jeweler Pascal Masselis where Sonia learned to work with precious metals and stones. Her aptitude was such that within a matter of months she had been chosen by Bernhard Willhelm to create the jewelery for his feted Paris shows.

Aged 23, and encouraged by enthused buyers and customers, Sonia put together a small collection of her own. Reaction to her work was such that, after a return to L.A., she set up her own Hollywood-based studio from where she now sells to clients and selected boutiques the world over.

Sonia's aesthetic is one of vibrant color and whimsical pairings. Objecs gathered from her globetrotting adventures - plastic animals, precious stones, hand-soldered flowers, antique watches and faux pearls - co-exist on pieces that are both beautiful and quirky. As W magazine put it, Sonia's work is "an explosive mix of girlish wit and off-kilter glamour... which has a surrealist sensibility a la Elsa Schiaparelli." Praise indeed, and not far wrong.
